Many years ago, a kind woman driving on Dressler saw a box moving and stopped to see what was inside. A small kitten in distress was fighting to get out.  The woman rushed the Kitty to Dr. Jellison and after weeks of medication and surgery- Baby Kitty came to live in the hospital. Baby Kitty has on going medical issues that will prevent adoption and so she lives happily at For Paws. During the day he stays in the kennel area helping the nurses and doctors with daily rounds and when we close the shop he roams the hospital with Fern our other practice cat until the next morning. A favorite with the entire staff, For Paws would not be the same without him.

On our second day of owning For Paws, Fern was surrendered to us by a client who could no longer care for her. Fern is a force of nature, not wanting to have much to do with humans. She expects to be cared for and we do- but the whole affection thing, petting is just not her style. Fern hangs out with Baby Kitty our other practice cat in the kennel area, but lives to be set free at the close of business to roam the hospital in the night. Fern likes to watch the silly things humans do from a distance and everyone loves her fierce sense of independence.

Spanelli was found in an abandoned house several years ago, fending for herself. She was brought to For Paws with an injured leg. As part of the For Paws Project, we intended on finding Spanelli a perfect home. Unknown to us at the time, she had already found it. When in a cage, Spanelli would hiss and try to bite, so we began letting her out in the offices upstairs. Once out of a cage, she became a loving and affectionate kitty. Dr. Pullekins and Spanelli developed a special bond, which is why this kitty now calls Dr. P's office home. She often eats lunch with Dr. Pullekins, keeping her lap warm. When the doctor is busy at work, Spanelli often soaks up the sun on JR's desk, usually sprawling herself out on the paperwork JR is working on.

Pansy belonged to a client who was very ill and could not care for her anymore. With some minor medical issues and no where to go, Dr. Jellison empathized with the family and Pansy, called her owner, and invited Pansy to live at For Paws permanently. Now Pansy has the whole staff wrapped around her little paws. She lives upstairs in the offices with Spanelli and bathes in the sun in Dr. Jellison's papasan chair. Every morning when the staff arrives for the morning, Pansy is waiting at the top of the stairs, begging for her morning meal. Her favorite past time, aside from sun bathing, is running back and forth in the hallway with Dr. Jellison for exercise.
